Formally granted the pseudo-scientific taxonomy 'Lacrimacorpus dissolvens', derived from Latin meaning 'tear', 'body', and 'dissolve'.
It is a miserable, physically unappealing creature covered entirely in warts and moles. It is draped in extremely saggy, misfitting skin and features webbed toes exclusively on its left feet.
Inhabits the terrestrial hemlock forests of northern Pennsylvania. Lore suggests they migrated from deserts to swamps before settling alongside logging camps.
Overwhelmed by deep psychological shame regarding its hideous appearance, it constantly sheds tears. It travels exclusively at twilight and avoids moonlit bodies of water so it cannot see its own reflection. When cornered by hunters tracking its tear-stained trail, it triggers a biological superpower to literally dissolve into a puddle of tears.
Originating in the 1910 book 'Fearsome Creatures of the Lumberwoods', it remains a beloved piece of lumberjack folklore. Its name was even adopted into scientific literature to describe chemical molecules that dissolve or decompose upon capture.
